50 Years Ago Today, Dallas Nightclub Owner Jack Ruby Shot and Killed Lee Harvey Oswald, the Accused Assassin of John F. Kennedy
On November 24, 1963, Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald, the accused assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Oswald died not long after. Ruby was later convicted of murdering Oswald, and served the rest of his life in prison. Ruby said that he killed Oswald in order to spare Mrs. Kennedy the burden of a future Oswald trial.
